Can you crowdsource a better AI? Kaggle, Google, crowdsourcing, TSA, General AI Challenge, artificial general intelligence, Pedro Domingos, The Master Algorithm are referenced in this episode of The AI Minute. Almost certainly. I’ll mention two projects. One is over at Kaggle, which was recently purchased by Google. Kaggle is a place where contests are posted to make improvements in algorithms with cash prizes being paid. The TSA has one going to try to spot weapons in luggage, which is being offered a $1.5 million in total prizes. Another initiative is the General AI Challenge, which has a $5 million aggregate prize that is being offered up in tranches as we build our way towards having an artificial general intelligence. Are these practical? Almost certainly. Pedro Domingos, who wrote, “The Master Algorithm: the quest to try to figure out a better general algorithm,” says that artificial intelligence is still a space where the talented at-home-in-the-garage practitioner can still make basic and large contributions to the advancement of the science. http://bit.ly/2Xivfse gigaom April 18, 2019 at 03:14PM
